Bourne, Massachusetts
Bourne, with a population of about 19,000, is located at
the entrance to Cape Cod. It spans the Cape Cod Canal and
the two bridges crossing to the Cape Cod peninsula go through
the Town.
The Town can be reached by Route 3 south from Boston, Routes
495 and 25 from central Massachusetts and Routes 195 and 25
from Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York City and south. It
is serviced by major airports in Boston (Logan) and Rhode
Island (Green) and by the Barnstable County Airport in Hyannis,
about 20 minutes from town.
Bourne has eight village centers, the most commercial being
Buzzards Bay.
About
10,000 of the town's residents are in the work force, with
30 percent in management, professional and related positions.

Of the approximately 13,000 residents 25 years of age and
older, almost 30 percent have earned bachelor degrees or higher
and about 93 percent are high school graduates or higher.
The Massachusetts Maritime Academy and the Upper Cape Cod
Regional Technical School are in Bourne.
